Within the activities of the degree, different visits of interest in the training of students are carried out.


Presentation

Civil Engineering Degree belongs to the branch of knowledge of Engineering and Architecture. The syllabus developed for this degree focuses on students acquiring a general orientation in different areas of civil engineering.

The syllabus oriented to Civil Engineering Degree features 240 credits ECTS, structured in four years of 60 credits each.

This degree complies with the regulations established on Orden CIN/307/2009, February 9 (BOE no42 of February 18), that establish the requiems for official university degrees’ verification that enable for the practice of the regulated profession of Technical Engineer in Public Works. Because of this, being a graduate of the Civil Engineering Degree allows practicing this profession.

It also grants the student the option of access to a Master Degree. For the case of the Master in Engineering of Roads, Canals and Ports, the Civil Engineering Degree complies with the requiems established in section 4.2.1. of the Appendix of Orden
CIN/309/2009, February 9, that establish the access conditions to the previous mentioned Master Degree.
The minimum number of European matriculation credits per student and school period in this degree is based on the Progress and Permanence Standards of the official degrees of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, which establish the modalities of enrollment in full-time and partial.

This degree will be imparted both in Spanish and English, being 95% of the credits in Spanish and 5% of them in English.

In order to obtain this degree, it is mandatory for the student to have a B1 level of English of Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Admission profile

Pursuant to el artículo 14 del Real Decreto 1393/2007, de 29 de octubre, which establishes the organization of official university studies, will be able to access this university degree, those who meet the requirements of the current legislation to access the university education and who comply with the current regulations and governing selection procedures for admission to university centers. These are the present ways of access to this degree:

  • University Entrance Examination or similar (PAU).
  • Higher professional-training courses, FP2 or similar.
  • UOC.
  • University graduates.
  • Students coming from educational systems to which the artículo 38.5 de la Ley Orgánica 2/2006 is applicable.
  • Recognition of foreign university studies (continuation of the same studies).
  • Over 40’s access (possibility provided for in LOMLOU).

Graduate Profile

There is the need to train qualified technicians able to bind their knowledge together, give solutions to problems and project with a forward-looking approach to every aspect encompassed in the field of Civil Engineering.

Civil Engineeing integrates a range of knowledge which has been the basis of the development of infrastructures, construction of civilian facilities, systems, the use of natural and energy sources and development of safety systems in construction, road safety, traffic and transport, urban development, and spatial planning.

The contribution of civil engineers is obvious, their constructions are always focused on the public service, even though when they develop them by their own will thanks to their knowledge and professionalism.

Recognition of credits completed in official NON-UNIVERSITY education

The Governing Council of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria approved the credit recognition tables of subjects taught in higher professional-training courses related to the degree. The subjects and the number of credits recognized are detailed in the “ Tablas de reconocimiento” published in the Boletín Oficial de la Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

Recognition tables have been made following the instructions on the   Convenio de colaboración between the Department of Education, Universities and Sustainability of the Canary Islands Government, the University of La Laguna and the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to establish the set of rules of validations and the recognition of studies that are among the higher education in the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands being signed on 9 April 2013.
